About Visit Rapid City
At Visit Rapid City, our work starts with a place we believe in. For more than five decades, we’ve helped share Rapid City with the world, strengthening the visitor economy while creating opportunities for the people, businesses, and experiences that make this community worth discovering.
Our mission is simple: elevate the quality of life in Rapid City through the power of tourism. We bring that mission to life through destination marketing, sales, public relations, visitor services, destination development, and partnerships across our community and tourism industry. Every campaign we launch, story we tell, meeting we bring to town, and visitor we welcome helps build a stronger destination and a stronger Rapid City.
As Rapid City’s official Destination Marketing Organization, we connect travelers with the experiences that define this corner of South Dakota, from the energy of downtown to the landscapes and landmarks of the Black Hills. At the same time, we work alongside local businesses, attractions, hospitality partners, and community leaders to grow tourism in ways that create lasting value.
More than 4 million visitors experience Rapid City each year, supporting local businesses, creating jobs, generating economic impact, and adding energy to the community we call home. Our job is to keep that momentum moving forward while helping Rapid City remain a place people want to visit, meet, compete, explore, and return to.
Because tourism is about more than bringing people here. It’s about what their visit makes possible for Rapid City.
Our Brand Promise
Generations of stories live here, woven into the streets of Rapid City and the landscapes that surround it. This is a place where South Dakota’s character comes into focus, from a vibrant local community to history carved into the granite of the Black Hills.
Spend time here and you begin to feel the weight of the land, the stories carried through the Hills, and the connection between the people who shaped this place and those who call it home today. It’s a sense of place that stays with you, grounded in history, shaped by community, and always ready to welcome you in.
