Government Shutdown Impacts
Due to the federal government shutdown, services, and access at federal sites, parks, and monuments may be affected. Here is how each area will be affected during the duration of the shutdown.
Mount Rushmore National Monument
Partially open. The parking structure, viewing terraces, trails, and the gift shop, Carvers Cafe, and restrooms inside Carvers Cafe remain open, but all other buildings, including the museum, are closed.
Badlands National Park
Mostly open. Park entry fee collected at the gate, and park is fully open, including the Cedar Pass and Sage Creek campgrounds. The Ben Reifel Visitor Center is closed.
Wind Cave National Park
Mostly closed. Cave tours are suspended during the duration of the shutdown, and the visitor center is closed. The surface-level trails and Elk Mountain Campground will remain open.
Jewel Cave National Monument
Closed. Tours are suspended and the visitor center is closed during the duration of the shutdown.
Minuteman Missile National Historic Site
Closed. Tours are suspended and the visitor center is closed during the duration of the shutdown.
Devils Tower National Monument
Mostly open. Park roads, lookouts, trails, and campground will remain open. The visitor center is closed.
