One of the most popular events taking place at The Monument during the winter season are the games of the Rapid City Rush hockey team! They are a professional ice hockey team in the ECHL. Games usually take place on Friday and Saturday nights and like most hockey games, the atmosphere is electric! You don’t have to be a Rush fan to appreciate a good game of hockey, but there’s a chance you’ll become one after attending a game. Another sporting team that calls Rapid home and hosts games inside The Monument is the Rapid City Marshals. The Marshals are a professional indoor football team that are a part of the Champions Indoor Football. They compete with teams from all over the upper-Midwest down through Texas. Having hosted big names like Morgan Wallen, Luke Bryan and Elton John, this entertainment mecca continues to bring in bigger and bigger names thanks to the addition of the new Summit Arena. The Monument is home to some of the biggest annual events in Rapid City like the October Black Hills Powwow, which celebrates the beauty of Native American culture with singers, dancers and artisans. It's also home to the second largest event in South Dakota the Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo® and Rodeo Rapid City which is held at the end of January into February and showcases all the wild west action you could dream of.
