Opportunities to give back come in all shapes and sizes in the Rapid City community. Your meeting or convention has an array of options when it comes to selecting an organization that aligns with your objectives. Here are a few ideas you might want to consider incorporating into your event.
FEEDING SOUTH DAKOTA

With a mission to end hunger in South Dakota, Feeding South Dakota offers different ways individuals and organizations can get involved and give back. Your meeting or convention can help with mobile distribution to local area homes, fill boxes of food at the local pantry, and fill backpacks for the BackPack program which helps feed children in the local community.
THE JOURNEY MUSEUM & LEARNING CENTER

The Journey Museum & Learning Center is a local museum that showcases the history and culture of the Rapid City and Black Hills area. Their mission is to preserve, educate, and explore the heritage, cultures, and environment of the Black Hills region. By doing this they help visitors understand our past, enrich our present and sustain our future. They can succeed in doing this for the community and its visitors with the help of volunteers throughout the year to keep everything up and running. Your group can assist with grounds upkeep by volunteering to mow the lawn, pull weeds, and do other various hands-on projects.
FORK REAL COMMUNITY CAFÉ

Found in Downtown Rapid City, this community diner is non-profit and pay what you can. Their mission is to build up the community using food and conversation by offering fresh farm-to-table meals in an atmosphere where all are equal and invited. They welcome volunteers to help in the farm and garden, and also offer outings where volunteers can learn about the aspects of organic farming while working in a friendly environment.
BLACK HILLS WORKS – SUZIE CAPPA ART CENTER

The mission at Black Hills Works is to create a community where everyone participates to achieve a life full of potential. They provide person-centered support to individuals with disabilities so they can achieve their goals and live their dream. At the Suzie Cappa Art Center these individuals explore their artistic abilities and find their voice as artists. Your attendees can share ideas, help promote independence and provide encouragement to them. No art experience necessary.
BLOOD DONATION

Our community is always in need of blood donations, and while it may be an unconventional way for your meeting or convention to give back, it truly does save lives. With the help of attendees from your meeting you can host a local blood drive.
