Rapid City Sports Association
The Rapid City Sports Association (RCSA) keeps some of Rapid City’s biggest sports supporters close to the action. Made up largely of retired coaches, officials, teachers, and lifelong fans, this volunteer group supports the Rapid City Sports Commission while continuing to champion the athletes, teams, and programs that make sports in the Black Hills special.
From September through April, RCSA members meet monthly to hear directly from area high school coaches. Coaches share updates on their programs, preview the season ahead, and spotlight athletes to watch. Members also recognize an Athlete of the Month, honoring competitors making an impact outside of high school athletics.
But RCSA is built for more than talking sports. Members roll up their sleeves throughout the year, volunteering at South Dakota Mines football and Rapid City Rush hockey games, supporting local tournaments, and helping keep events running strong. Each May, the group hosts the Rapid City Sports Hall of Fame Banquet, celebrating the coaches, athletes, and contributors who have helped shape sports across the Black Hills.
RCSA also gives local standouts another chance to earn the spotlight. Each spring, members vote to select the area’s High School Athlete of the Year from nominees submitted by area high schools.
Why Join RCSA
Membership is $40 for an individual or $60 for a couple, making RCSA an easy way to stay connected to local sports long after the final whistle. You do not need to coach, officiate, or have an athlete on the roster. You just need to love the game.
