The Main Street Square fountains serve as an interactive splash patio, offering a fun way to cool off in the downtown. Surrounded by historic charm, shops, and eateries, the fountains provide a perfect setting for free water fun.

Know Before You Go
- Dress for fun—wear appropriate clothing and shoes!
- Diapers are a no-go, but swim diapers are totally okay.
- Keep it cool—no running, please.
- Leave the toys at home; we’ve got all the splashy fun you need.
- The water’s for splashing, not sipping!
- Stay clear the cascade waterfall and rain curtain features between the spires at the corner of the park; those are just for looks.
- The granite structures aren’t for climbing, so admire them from the ground.
- Help keep Main Street Square clean by tossing trash in the bins.
- Keep an eye on your stuff, and stay safe! Main Street Square is not liable for any accidents that may occur, or property left unattended.

What months out of the year are the Main Street Square Fountains open?
The Main Street Square Fountains typically open in May and close in September/October as long as weather permits. The fountains will not run when temperatures are cooler than 55 degrees Fahrenheit. During the colder months, the fountains are transformed into an ice skating rink.

Are The Fountains open during all types of weather?
The Main Street Square Fountains will not run when winds are over 25 miles per hour or when lightning is seen within 10 miles of the area. The water will shut off when temperatures are cooler than 55 degrees Fahrenheit.
How often are The Fountains cleaned?
The fountains are cleaned weekly. Water is treated with a UV disinfectant system as well as chlorine and is regularly tested with samples sent to the South Dakota Department of Health.
