Sculptor Brings Nature's Beauty and Optimism to Main Street Square Granite
In 2013, Masayuki Nagase began the process of carving the 21 granite pieces at Main Street Square. This privately funded $2 million project reflects the region's natural and cultural past, present and future. THE CITY OF PRESIDENTS
Visitors to Downtown Rapid City are greeted by the City of Presidents, a series of life-size bronze statues of our nation’s past presidents along the city’s streets and sidewalks. Whether you’re enjoying Downtown shopping, dining or other attractions, you can enjoy these free sculptures.
Downtown Rapid City offers plenty of parking options for patrons of Downtown businesses and Main Street Square. Located adjacent to the Square is a city parking ramp. Public parking meters are located on the lowest level where you can park for only $0.50 per hour, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Parking is free all other times, including nights, weekends and holidays.
Throughout Downtown, there is free off-street parking, with a two-hour limit Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
