At Bird Cage Book Store, we are celebrating by honoring and remembering our ancestors with a traditional "Day of the Dead Festival". Event organizers are encouraging all walks of life to participate in this first ever public Dia de los Muertos Festival. "Remembering Our Ancestors From All Walks of Life"
10am-2pm $5 event fee, 6 and under free, grandma's and grandpa's free. Make and Take activities: face painting, sugar skull decorating, story time, movie, canvas painting for adults lead by Mix it up Mobil Art Studio. https://www.facebook.com/mixitupmobileartstudio, musical performance by #Linda Boyle singing traditional Mexican songs. Building our Community Altar; we are encouraging and welcoming families in our community and the surrounding area to bring items to place on the altar. Some examples could be displaying a picture of a deceased family member or an item that best represents the memory of the person. We are encouraging organizations, schools, groups to participate by creating small shadow boxes(Cajitas) that can be placed on the larger altar. Due to space we are asking you limit the size to no larger than (18 inches w x 14 inches L) light weight material or poster board. We will be accepting can good items at each event .
