2017 Fireball Run Adventurally

Sep 30, 2017

Location: Main Street Square, Downtown Rapid City

The Fireball Run is an adventure rally filmed in real time. It is the Amazing Race, Dirty Jobs, How It's Made, and your favorite travel and history show all wrapped up into the largest live trivia pursuit ever.

It is a 2,000 mile life-sized, trivia pursuit road rally competition that takes place over an 8 day period. The race contestants will travel to:

  • Eau Claire, WI (start of the race, September 22)
  • Dubuque, IA
  • Burlington, IA
  • Ft. Dodge, IA
  • Vermillion & Yankton, SD
  • Pierre, SD
  • Rapid City (finish line city, September 30)

There are 40 teams racing around the Midwest to locate America’s hidden gems and historic artifacts, all for bragging rights, a plastic road sign and an opportunity to find America’s missing children.

Fireball Run is a 26 episode streaming series in the U.S. on Amazon and televised in foreign markets. The teams are made up of a variety of individuals with a whole lot of personality and BIG hearts including two of our very own Rapid City residents, Marnie & Doug Herrmann. Contestants will travel throughout Rapid City and the Black Hills in hot pursuit of clues to answer trivia questions and uncover historic artifacts and hidden gems unique to our area. All elements of the show are authentic, including contestant outcome and reaction. NOT a Reality TV series, Fireball Run is factual entertainment. Factual TV is a genre of non-fiction depicting actual events and people.

Many of the challenges are once in a lifetime, rare, exclusive, of historic experiences, although some are physical challenges. Not a road-race, contestant speeds are monitored by the AmberAlertGPS system by AlertGPS®. Fans can favorite teams in real time as they traverse along a satellite map at

This is your opportunity to watch as this amazing AdventuRally rolls through Rapid City and cheer on the contestants and celebrate with the winning team as they cross the finish line in Downtown Rapid City on September 30th!

The Fireball Run is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest active recovery effort for missing children. Over the course of the first 10 seasons, they have helped recover 49 missing children with the show.
