The place I just described is called The Tinder Box Cigar Lounge.
The Tinder Box was the 37th official Diamond Crown Cigar Lounge in the world. What is a Diamond Crown Cigar Lounge? Well, in 1995 J.C. Newman Cigar Co. celebrated its 100th anniversary by releasing the Diamond Crown brand. During this time, non-smoking legislation was affecting where people could enjoy a nice cigar, so to pair with the release of the cigars, the company introduced exclusive luxury locations called Diamond Crown Cigar Lounges. The cigars made specifically for this brand were revolutionary in the cigar world. Stanford Newman, J.C. Newman’s son, wanted a 54 ring gauge cigar when the largest cigars at the time were only 50-52. To put this in simpler terms, Stanford Newman demanded a larger cigar and would only settle for the best. This dedication to be recognized as top of the line reflects the selection of all Diamond Crown Cigar Lounges. These lounges are held up to the esteemed luxury experience that is reflected by J.C. Newman Cigar Co. and the Tinder Box Cigar Lounge is no exception.
When you walk into this location, you are greeted with a subtle sweet smell of fine cigars, soft music, and the friendliest dog you will ever meet. The humidor containing premium cigars is located near the back, giving you the experience of walking through the lounge to take in the art, ambiance and atmosphere that is the Tinder Box. If you’re like me and a bit of a cigar newbie, the staff is extremely kind and knowledgeable. They are happy to help and answer any questions you may have. They helped me to find a great cigar called the “Juicy Lucy.” It was a sweet flavored cigar that burned nice and slow and was thick enough to make a cooler and smoother smoke. If you are looking for a premium cigar, make sure to ask about the exclusive Diamond Crown Julius Caesar 1895 Cigar. This cigar is only available at Diamond Crown Cigar Lounges.
In my opinion, partaking in a cigar is always better with a good drink. Tinder Box has a full bar to satisfy any thirst. I myself am more of a beer drinker rather than spirits, so I ordered one of the many local Black Hills beers on tap. If you prefer a nice cognac, whiskey, bourbon or scotch to compliment your cigar, they have the works.
My favorite part about the Tinder Box is the fact that I can take the time to relax with friends and family. The comfortable and carefree atmosphere allows me to easily hold a conversation without having to top the voices of those around me. Most who enter understand, respect and are mindful of those around them. In a world that is moving so fast, a slow burning cigar is just the thing to slow you down and allow you to be in the moment with those around you.
