1.    Make Your Mark

Going with the “new year, new you” motto? Take a walk on the artistic side during your time in Rapid City. Maybe you want to dip your toes in the water by testing out your ability with an art class. Prouty Pottery and the Dahl Arts Center offer pottery classes that help you mold the perfect creation. Skip the beginning step and add some color to an already created clay piece at the same location or at Pottery 2 Paint. You can also experiment with other materials like paint and canvas at Canvas 2 Paint where you follow along to create a stunning masterpiece. Or you can stop in at Board and Brush where you create your own DIY wood décor. Already know you have the artistic ability? Obtain a permit through the Dahl Arts Center and you can add a mural to walls of everyone’s favorite alleyway – Art Alley

2.    Meet Your Inner Adventurer

Looking to have more thrilling adventures in the new year? Our area has tons of activities you can challenge yourself with. Rock climbing in the Black Hills is extremely popular, but if you’re new to the sport it can be intimidating. A great way to get introduced it to try it out at one of the rock climbing gyms in Rapid City – once you’ve got a grip you can find an experienced guide to take you out in the hills. Mountain biking is another popular activity many in the area participate in, you can find a range of trails right in Rapid City. Wanting an adventure without needing special skills or equipment? Two popular options are soaring high in a hot air balloon ride over the Black Hills, or diving deep down into the earth during a spelunking tour at one of the area caves!
