Your Home Away From Home For The Holidays
Heading to Rapid City for the upcoming holidays? Maybe you should be.
In addition to awesome Black Hills adventures everyone will love, fun can be found within Rapid City as well during this season. Let me explain why Rapid City should be on your list of holiday destinations and why The Holiday Inn Rapid City - Rushmore Plaza (naming coincidence? I think not) should be your home away from home while you’re here.
Winter weather, while beautiful, is usually on the cooler side when it comes to temperatures. That means it’s important to stay somewhere conveniently located, and the Holiday Inn Rapid City - Rushmore Plaza fits that description perfectly. This hotel is the closest you can get when it comes to staying near The Monument (formerly known as the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center) which hosts events all year long. A walk through the parking lot will land you right next door to attend a Rush Hockey game, the holiday play, or the concert that’s in town when you are. You couldn’t get any closer – unless you slept at the Civic Center, but please don’t do that.
Beyond their location in regards to the Civic Center, The Holiday Inn is located moments away from Downtown Rapid City. Even in cooler weather you can enjoy a short walk through Memorial Park over to enjoy the awesome features of our Downtown, like ice skating at Main Street Square! In truth, I have never been a huge ice skater, but every year I make my husband take me to Main Street Square. There’s just something special about this rink I can’t put into words. You’re in the heart of Rapid City, surrounded by Christmas lights and music and to top it off you can get a nice warm beverage for Alternative Fuel. Talk about toasty perfection.
Another reason I would call the Holiday Inn Rapid City - Rushmore Plaza the holiday hub for Rapid City is their huge New Year’s Eve event they host every year. The inside of the Holiday Inn is an eight story atrium, meaning it’s an open and spacious eight story building. This makes it the perfect place to host a celebration with a ball drop for New Year’s Eve! Which is exactly what they do. It’s an awesome way to ring in the new year, and it’s indoor!
I can’t talk about winter activities in our area without mentioning the Black Hills. Whether it be snowmobiling, snow shoeing, hiking, or just a jaw-dropping scenic winter drive, it’s important experience winter in the hills. Thankfully, The Holiday Inn is also conveniently located near the interstate, which is the last reason I am going to give on why this would be my choice for a holiday home away from home.
