As our second president, John Adams was known for his ability as a great orator. After Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence, it was John Adams who delivered it to Congress “with a power of thought and expression that moved us from our seats”. During Adams term, the Navy Department and Marine Corps were Created (1798), the Capital moved to Washington, D.C.
