Stroll through the William Nordermeer Formal Gardens, designed with over 10,000 annual perennial flowers. The gardens occupy more than 70 flower beds, each with grass walkways and floral identifiers for up-close examination. And in the morning light, the flowers pop for the best vacation photos.

Late Morning: SKYLINE AND RAPID CITY COWBOW-HILL TRAILS
See the rest of Rapid City from your mountain bike on the Skyline and Cowboy Hills trails. The trails start close to downtown Rapid City and run along two sandstone ridges with technical mountain biking elements including climbs, downhills and spurs.

Early Afternoon: RAPID CITY BIKE PATH
After grabbing lunch, continue your bike tour of Rapid City on the city's own bike path, a 12-mile concrete route that snakes through the heart of town along Rapid Creek. This scenic ride takes you near the South Dakota School of Mines to just past Canyon Lake Park.

Canyon Lake Park is a great place to unwind and enjoy the area's scenic beauty. just southwest of Rapid City off Highway 44, the park is home to many local events and festivals, as well as peaceful spots for picnics, games and paddleboat rentals.
